Exalog’s aventure in the Moroccan desert!

Exalog sponsored the team 187 for the Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles’ 26th edition, which took place from March 23th to 31st in the Moroccan desert.
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles is a humanitarian rally organised in the Moroccan desert. The teams, made up exclusively of women, must navigate each of the stages travelling the shortest distance possible. For this adventure in which speed does not play a role, participants are equipped only with a compass and road map for navigating.
A humanitarian support team composed of 50 healthcare professionals follows the rally teams and provides medical examinations for the inhabitants of the villages visited by the rally.
The Rallye Aïcha des Gazelles in numbers:
- 2,500km of desert to be crossed
- 300 participants forming 150 teams
- 9 days of rallying
- 6 stages
- And over 5,000 medical examinations
The rally’s 26th edition took place from 23 to 31 March 2016, and finished in Essaouira.
Exalog decided to be part of the adventure and sponsored team 187, which is made up of Fabienne Barouillet, Financial Director of Transavia, and Laurence Palmowski, Human Resources Director of the Roussillhotel group (four-star hotels, thalassotherapy centre and spa).
“We have been friends for 30 years and really wanted to undertake an extraordinary adventure together,” says Fabienne Barouillet. “Our team name reflects this.”
“We are both convinced that with the right will and a bit of nerve, anything is possible,” continues Laurence Palmowski.

Out of the 96 teams participating for the 1st time in the Rallye, team 187 finished 45th out of 96, which is proof, as Laurence PALMOWSKI said, that “with the right will and a bit of nerve, anything is possible”.
An interesting fact:
The Rallye respects the environment of the regions it crosses through by cleaning up (collecting, sorting and incinerating any rubbish created). The teams are also equipped with a gauge to measure their CO2 emissions.
